“Argggggh!” you scream into the mirror, “I have my mother’s thighs!”

Where did I go wrong? When did it start? How did it start? Your friend the full length mirror has turned on you just this morning. You look into the mirror in abject disgust as it reveals the tell tale signs of cellulite. They always say the thighs and the backside are the first too go. Remember when you poked fun at the women that had the cottage cheese legs. You think of the images of yourself being those women. Are you being bit by the same words you used? What is cellulite and where can I get treatment?

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the dimpling of the skin that is often found on the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and sometimes upper arms of women. Although in rare cases men have exhibited cellulite in these areas, it is most common in women, particularly post-pubescent women. Sadly, almost all women will have this issue before they die; however, the instances range in severity from mild to a form that permeates all of these areas of a woman’s body.

While many doctors and researchers have theorized the causes of cellulite, there is no agreement within these communities on exactly what cellulite is or how to fight it. Some experts believe that it is directly related to estrogen, which makes sense considering the high propensity of this issue among post-pubescent women. However, others argue that the origins of cellulite lie in metabolism and genetics.

Where do I get Treatment?

Even though there does not seem to be a concrete answer to the question, what is cellulite, there are successful treatment options available. One of the most common treatments available is cellulite cream, such as Revitol or Avotone. These anti-cellulite creams are available at your local pharmacy or online, and are as easy to use as that favorite bottle of lotion you have sitting on your bathroom countertop.

You can do the treatment in your very own bathroom or anywhere you choose to moisturize. The ingredients are the main difference between creams specially formulated to fight cellulite and the typical bottle of lotion. Lotions have lanolin, but lack the ingredients proven to firm skin, like caffeine. Doctors and manufacturers may disagree on the definition of cellulite, They have created creams proven effective against that dimply skin that you hate so much.
